Ultrasound is a non-invasive diagnostic imaging test that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce images of the structures within the body.
Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your scheduled ultrasound exam to register. This will help us to stay on schedule and expedite the completion of your exam.
- If you are scheduled for an Ultrasound of the abdomen, aorta or right upper quadrant, please do not eat or drink anything for 6 - 8 hours before your exam.
- If you are scheduled for an ultrasound Renal exam, please do not eat or drink anything for 4 hours prior to your exam.
- If you are scheduled for an Ultrasound pelvis, or ultrasound fetal and you are in your 1st trimester please drink Three 8 oz. glasses of water 1 hour prior to your exam. Your bladder must be full to complete these exams.
- If you are scheduled for an ultrasound Hysterosonogram, OB 2nd/3rd trimester, Prostate, Spleen, Testicle/Scrotum or Thyroid there is no required preparation for your exam.
