Supporting the Patient & Their Family

Beginning at the time of diagnosis of any life-limiting illness, palliative care has the goal of supporting an individual and their family through the hardships of chronic disease. This form of care is designed to work hand in hand with curative and life-prolonging treatments with intense focus on symptom management. The Palliative Care Team manages physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs. Patients and their families are supported before, during and after the curative treatment plan with the goal of maintaining strength, comfort and independence.

Medical/Surgical Unit
End-of-Life Care

End-of-Life Care, or care sometimes referred to as Hospice Care, is an optional part of our services that occur toward the end of an individual’s diseases process. Palliative Care Services are available for patients who are hospitalized and on a referral basis through the Center for Cancer Care. The Medical/Surgical and Palliative Care Unit is located on the 6th floor of Knox Community Hospital.
